SYNOPSIS

It’s a cool winter evening in Orlando, Florida and group of college girls are out for a night of fun and wind up at a sports pub playing an arcade game.   Kathy, a white female, and her friends are approached by a cute guy named Francisco, mixed race male, and his two friends.  The young group celebrates joyously, long into the night.

Nine months later a car pulls into a driveway and Kathy gets out holding her new born baby that she named Francisco.  The baby’s farther is never to be found and Kathy’s parents are a bit stunned about their new home situation.

It’s not long before Kathy and her parents have a falling out and she storms out of the house with baby Francisco in her arms.  She winds up living with a friend and has a hard time keeping a job and paying bills as a single mother.

The day-to-day struggle of caring for Francisco is too much for Kathy, so she decides to escape from life and leaves her 4 year-old boy behind with a co-worker friend named Sheila.  Several days have past and Kathy calls Sheila and tells her she’s never coming back.

Sheila is in no position to take care of the young boy, so she feels the most responsible thing to do is bring Francisco down to the local courthouse.

It’s late in the afternoon on a Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, and the place is about empty.  Sheila needs to hurry to get out of town to join her family for the holiday.

She spots an acquaintance, Mike, an aspiring young architect, and somehow manages to abandon Francisco with him.  Mike is caught off guard after noticing Sheila has disappeared and has little choice but to take Francisco home.

Mike is immediately greeted at his front door by his girlfriend, Nita, and together they get on the phone to file a missing persons report.

Since it is the night before Thanksgiving and all local government services are shut down until the following Monday, the couple does the responsible thing and takes care of Francisco during the holidays.  During this time Mike and Nita begin to develop a slight attachment to the adorable young boy who is “too stink’n cute.”

As the weeks go by Mike and Nita’s relationship struggles as they work with local agencies to find a suitable solution for Francisco and finally decide to take temporary Foster custody until … “when” … “waiting for a miracle to happen.”

The story continues on a journey through the state legal system.  On several occasions Mike attempts to abandon Francisco but has too big of a heart and the cute kid has too big of an adorable smile.  Although Kathy (Francisco’s mother) did die a tragic death a few weeks after running away from her life, the story ends around Christmas time with a happy holiday ending.
